CONSERVANCY LAUNCHES SEARCH FOR NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Fontana, WI. -- August 18, 2008 -- Charles Colman, chairman of the Geneva Lake Conservancy, today announced that the board of directors of the Conservancy has launched a search for a new executive director, to succeed James Celano, who has resigned from the position. Having served as executive director for the past four years, Celano has decided to move on for other opportunities.

"Jim and the Conservancy have achieved much over the past four years," said Colman, "including working more closely with developers to assure that good conservation practices become part of their planning, establishing the Watershed Awareness Program, working to help save historic Yerkes Observatory, and adding to the Conservancy portfolio of close to one thousand acres of natural habitat in southern Walworth County conserved through permanent land protection agreements."

Colman continued, "The board of directors and I wish Jim the best in his future endeavors, and while the search for his successor gets underway, the Conservancy is open for business as usual, with our seasoned staff of Katie Sullivan and Lynn Ketterhagen available to the community. Inquiries regarding the executive director position should be directed to my attention at the Geneva Lake Conservancy, P.O. Box 588, 398 Mill Street, Fontana, WI 53125 or glc@genevaonline.com."

The Geneva Lake Conservancy is a not-for-profit, community and volunteer supported, conservation advocacy and land trust organization serving southern Walworth County. It is dedicated to creating common ground, preserving community character and conserving natural resources. The Conservancy is affiliated with the not-for-profit statewide Gathering Waters conservation group, and with the not-for-profit national Land Trust Alliance.
