Geneva Inn Lake Walk for Conservation raises $2,900 for the Conservancy

Lake Geneva , Wis. — The Geneva Inn Lake Walk ’s 50 walkers combined to raise $2,600 on May 17. The beautiful, sunlight day was enjoyed as they walked all or a portion of the 20.6 mile path around picture-perfect Geneva Lake . This year, The Geneva Inn selected the Geneva Lake Conservancy to be the beneficiary of the funds. Members of the community and area visitors joined The Geneva Inn’s staff for The Geneva Inn Lake Walk featuring food and drink donated by The Geneva Inn, Harpoon Willie’s and Gordy’s Boat House.

“We had a beautiful day to enjoy the spring sunshine. By partnering with Harpoon Willie’s and Gordy’s Boat House, we were able to provide food and drink along the way making this event a pleasant time and easy pace for even the occasional walker,” says Rick Treptow , general manager of The Geneva Inn. “Our staff has enjoyed the walk twice a year for over ten years, but we were especially pleased with the enthusiastic response doubling our numbers this year with people from all over Walworth county and visitors from Illinois.”

LAKE WALK SCHEDULE

The Geneva Inn Lake Walk took place on a perfect spring day. Walkers participated with a minimum donation or pledge of $50 and had the option of starting from three different start and finish points depending on their schedule. The day began at Fontana ’s lakefront near the Beach House. After eight miles the walkers enjoyed a lunch stop at The Geneva Inn in Linn Township before heading for refreshments at the 17 mile marker at Harpoon Willie’s in Williams Bay . The 20.6 mile walk ended with a celebration at Gordy’s Boat House in Fontana . Many walked a portion of the lake joining the group at the different stops or calling it a day at the 8 or 17 mile markers.

“The flexible starting and ending points make it ideal for anyone who wants to participate for as little as 3, 8, 17 or the whole 20.6 miles,” tells Treptow.
