Significant Areas of Walworth County

Walworth County, Wisconsin borders the state of Illinois. Primarily because of its beautiful and beckoning glacially-formed lakes, the area has long been a popular vacation destination and summer residence for many Midwesterners, particularly Chicago- and Rockford-area families. The county is blessed with a tremendous diversity of land forms and resources, including some of Wisconsin's finest farmland spread across a landscape formed by the last period of glaciation over 10,000 years ago. The map of Walworth County depicts the natural resource base of surface waters and environmental corridors and the urban and built up areas in which reside the county's 93,800 residents (2000 Census).
