Excellent and important bumblebee pollinator plant that blooms in late spring to early summer, when other pollinator plants are lacking.  Host plant for several butterfly species.  Baptisias take a few years to reach their potential, so be patient.  Members of the legume family, they help to collect atmospheric nitrogen to help fix the soil.
