Carol Elkins

Carol Elkins- Conservation Program Specialist

Carol has been a Conservation@Home Consultant for the Geneva Lake Conservancy since 2021.  In 2024, she formally joined the staff as our Conservation Program Specialist. 

 

Carol’s current and past endeavors include work with the McHenry County Conservation Foundation and a long career with American Express Global Business Travel.  Carol is a University of Wisconsin Master Naturalist, an Ambassador for the Xerces Society of Invertebrate Conservation, and the Chair of the City of Crystal Lake’s Sustainability Committee.  She volunteers with the Land Conservancy of McHenry County in their Conservation@Home program, and is a Native Landscape Mentor and Mentoring Committee volunteer with the Wildflower Preservation and Propagation Committee.  She advocates for Monarch butterfly and pollinator conservation across several groups including the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County.   Carol is passionate about conservation and advocates for land, water, and wildlife across Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin.  She grew up with a family home in Williams Bay and is thrilled to be helping to protect Geneva Lake and Walworth County as part of the GLC team.
