High Trees

The Geneva Lake Conservancy their largest land donation in its history through a life estate granted by Marjorie “Jorie” Lueloff Friedman. The 67-acre estate ‘High Trees’ was owned by Marjorie, Chicago’s first female news anchor, and her late husband Richard Friedman, an internationally renowned attorney. They used it as a weekend retreat and summer home for more than 40 years. It is located in the LuLu Lake State Natural Area near East Troy.

 

High Trees is an extraordinary example of a rare Kettle Moraine landscape with oak woodlands, kettles and a rolling topography of drumlins, ridges and other unique Kettle Moraine features left by glaciers thousands of years ago.

The property will be designated as a wildlife refuge with limited public access through educational tours led by GLC staff.
